(July 22, 2012 - Las Vegas)  An audience of nearly 3,000 beauty professionals gathered at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas to celebrate the honorees of the prestigious 2012 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) – including eight winners from Paul Mitchell Schools!

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD:
Nick Hemsley
(right), graduate of Paul Mitchell The School Salt Lake City.
Nick was also a finalist in the Newcomer of the Year category.

TEXTURE AWARD:
Jasmine Gibbs,
graduate of Cactus Academy, A Paul Mitchell Partner School
Jasmine was also a finalist in the Newcomer of the Year category.

SALON TEAM AWARD:
Lunatic Fringe Salon Team,
including Casie Norries, Chelsea Pearl Laterza, Steven Robertson, Cambo Kelly, Jeremy Mcdougle, and Rapha Bertelli, graduates of Paul Mitchell The School Salt Lake City. Both Lunatic Fringe and Paul Mitchell The School Salt Lake City are owned and directed by Shawn Truillo and Angie Katsanevas.

Paul Mitchell Schools' Dean and Cofounder Winn Claybaugh acknowledged all of the NAHA participants, saying: “How many hairdressers does it take to win NAHA? One hundred! One to do all the work, and 99 to stand by and say, 'Oh, I could've won that.' The fact is, while many stand on the sidelines, very few actually do the work and make the commitment to move ahead, take the scary risks, and eventually radically improve their careers. I personally want to honor and celebrate those who entered NAHA and those who won. You did what most will never do, and you are true visionaries!”

Jasmine Gibbs said, “I'm so proud to be a Paul Mitchell Alumni. . . . When I decided to go to beauty school I thought I would work in a small Brooklyn salon doing weaves. It wasn't until I discovered the Paul Mithell Schools Newsletter that I knew of the endless possibilities. I've been a nurse 7 years and never received an award nor a promotion. Two years in the beauty industry and I have a NAHA under my belt. It's because of passion and inspiring leaders . . . I thank you for an exceptional education and culture. I love what I do, who I do it for, and who I do it with!”
