How We Change Lives

Kali

A few years ago, my marriage was falling apart and I felt unfit as a mother, wife, and human being, which will make you feel unfit for life. I was drinking more than anyone should and found myself one night all alone, sitting in my garage while the car was running and the doors were closed, praying for help. I thank God every day that something made me turn off the car and stop what I was doing. This was a true cry for help and change.

At this point I still was not clear on what to do, but I knew I wanted to be alive, feel alive, and most of all, just be happy. Then one day I thought, I should go back to school. I’d had my own business for six years and my heart was no longer in it. I needed good, positive people to be around.

The day I walked into our beautiful Paul Mitchell School, my life changed. There were smiles, hugs, and warmth all around; it was amazing to feel that kind of energy again. I felt alive! I started in the esthetics program two weeks later.

A little over two years have passed since that dark time in my life, and I am so blessed to say my marriage is better then ever, my children are happy and healthy, and I am a wonderful mom. I found my calling in teaching and have never been happier. I am 100% visionary, 100% of the time! I am excited to go to "work" and giggle every time I get paid - I still can’t believe I get a paycheck to have this much fun and play a part in so many lives. I am running Student Council and working very hard to become Educational Leader. It is confirmed to me every day with something big or small that I am right where I was made to be. I smile all day, and I’m pretty sure I do while sleeping, too.

My gratitude to Paul Mitchell Schools for saving my life is beyond words. You have touched mine and my family’s lives in so many ways, and I walk full of joy in our culture every day.
