The Community Resource Council of Hackensack, New Jersey, announced the recipients of its 2013 Dr. Harry Brandeis Memorial Community Service Awards. Accorded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the community, this year’s honorees include Harry Comp, owner/director of Parisian Beauty Academy, a Paul Mitchell Partner School; Surrogate Judge Michael R. Dressler of the Bergen County Surrogate's Office; and Peter P. Mercer, president of Ramapo College of New Jersey.
The award was established to honor Dr. Harry Brandeis, a highly respected Bergen County physician and philanthropist who served as the president of the Community Resource Council Board of Trustees for many years. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
About Harry Comp
Born and raised in Hackensack, Harry attended Hackensack public schools and received a bachelor’s degree from Farleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. He owns and operates Parisian Beauty Academy with his sister; their parents, Harry and Henrietta Comp, Sr., founded the family business over 50 years ago.
A visionary who always has his eyes on the horizon, Harry loves the environment he and Penny have created with the school and considers their students, faculty, and staff as his extended family. He is always available to serve his community, both personally and through the school, and his love for people keeps him involved with community events and charitable organizations. By bringing a variety of community service projects to the school, he has instilled the love of “giving back” to his students and team.
