Paul Mitchell Schools Go "Passionately Pink"
by Paul Mitchell Schools on 10/25/2011Paul Mitchell Schools Go "Passionately Pink" to Help Save Lives
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the nationwide network of Paul Mitchell cosmetology schools has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to raise a minimum of $75,000 in the month of October for Komen’s Passionately Pink campaign. Many schools have committed to raising at least $750, to help the network reach its goal by rolling out the pink carpet and going passionately pink for the cure!
Over the next 25 years, another 25 million people are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and another 10 million people will die of the disease. In the United States alone, 40,480 women and 450 men will die from breast cancer this year. One case is diagnosed every 3 minutes, one woman dies from breast cancer every 13 minutes, and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
“Giving back is a cornerstone of our unique culture at Paul Mitchell Schools,” said Dean and Cofounder Winn Claybaugh. “Partnering with the Komen organization and their Passionately Pink campaign is just one of the many ways our Future Professionals show their passion and compassion in their local communities.”

About PaulMitchellSchools
At Paul Mitchell Schools, we believe education is an adventure and the learning experience needs to be fun. Our instructors—we call them “learning leaders”—are trained to draw out the artist in every student and prepare them to compete in the real world. Through our annual “FUNraising” campaign, we’ve raised and donated millions of dollars in support of many charitable causes. We’ve built homes with Habitat for Humanity, fed thousands of African orphans, and supported the victims of AIDS, breast cancer, homelessness, abuse, and hundreds of other causes. Please browse our Web site (www.PaulMitchell.edu) to learn more about Paul Mitchell Schools, and visit our FUNraising site (www.PaulMitchellSchoolsFUNraising.org) to learn more about our philanthropic promise.
Established over 30 years ago, the Paul Mitchell network is nearly 100,000 salons strong and in 81 countries worldwide; every professional hairdresser knows the Paul Mitchell name. Now, with the arrival of nearly 100 Paul Mitchell Schools serving over 14,000 Future Professionals, we’ve taken the world of cosmetology education by storm.
About Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure
Susan G. Komen for the Cure created Passionately Pink in 2006 to meet the needs of organizations and individuals seeking additional support for their efforts in the fight to end breast cancer. Passionately Pink is primarily a web-based program, whose Web site www.passionatelypink.org is open to the public and offers many free tools and resources to Komen supporters including breast health information, event ideas and photos for inspiration, and downloadable posters and fliers.
All donations received through Passionately Pink help support Komen’s national initiatives, which include research grants that will help discover and deliver the cures for breast cancer. Additionally, if the donor resides in the service area of one of the 120 local Komen Affiliates nationwide then that donation is shared with the corresponding Komen Affiliate. Komen Affiliates provide education, screening, and treatment programs at the local level – in fact, Komen Affiliates helped fund over 500,000 mammograms in the past year – which means that Passionately Pink truly helps save lives in our own communities and nationwide, now and in the future.
