Samantha Harper

Education Leader, Phase Two Leader, Makeup Specialist, Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham graduate

Experience in education…

In 2008, I graduated from the instructor program at Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham. I’ve taught every aspect of our curriculum, and also teach salon classes for John Paul Mitchell Systems.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I have worked in a Paul Mitchell salon, behind the stage at hair shows, and have done makeup and hair for Broadway productions.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

Robert Brown inspires me professionally by knowing the business and pushing me to grow. Stephanie Kocielski inspires me with her passion and creativity.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham is…

The energy, the atmosphere, and the outside-of-the-box education delivered keeps learning fun.

To me, living beautifully means…

To make others around you feel beautiful, to give back to your community, and share your knowledge.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

Robert Brown. He has shown me that perseverance and steadfastness can make a name for you, and your name and your word are your bond in this industry.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham is…

The sense of family that has bonded us all together. From the top to the bottom, everyone is shown love, respect, and genuine care. Our mission is happy Future Professionals. Along with that comes happy everyone else!

To me, living beautifully means…

Overcoming struggles. Because even the person who wants to see a person struggle grows from that person overcoming it.

Denise West

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

Beth Minardi, known for her hair coloring and her ability to teach color in a way that anyone can understand, because of her passion for the industry and hair color.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham is…

Sharing what I have learned over the years with the Future Professionals, and the amazing talented team that I have the privilege of working with.

To me, living beautifully means…

Taking care of yourself on the inside spiritually as well as your outer appearance. Someone told me once, "There is no such thing as an ugly person; there are lazy people." In other words, you can make the effort to look your best or you can walk out the door making no effort at all. It's a choice.
