More than 70% of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s 909,000 students are impoverished, and thousands of children go to school hungry, sick, and ungroomed. Thanks to Willie Jordan and the Fred Jordan Mission, over the past quarter century more than 130,000 children have returned to school prepared to learn. The children have been given new clothing, new shoes and socks, backpacks, school supplies, hygiene kits, food, Paul Mitchell products, and a new haircut.
Every year for over a decade, the Fred Jordan Mission has given Paul Mitchell Schools the opportunity to cut hair at their annual Back-to-School Giveaway in the Los Angeles Skid Row area. This year's event took place October 5, 2017, with dozens of future professionals and team members from Paul Mitchell The School Pasadena, Paul Mitchell The School Costa Mesa, and Paul Mitchell The School Sherman Oaks volunteering their time to give hundreds of free haircuts throughout the day.
