If you are exploring entering the $530 billion+ beauty industry, you are already making a great choice! During COVID, one of the most-inquired questions people asked was “When can I see my hairdresser next?”. The industry employs thousands of small business owners and provides countless opportunities. You can meet amazing new people every day, run a flexible schedule, achieve job security, and ensure you have a career that you love. However, there are so many options for schooling today, and making the right choice can get overwhelming.
Here are 5 reasons why Paul Mitchell The School Boise could be the perfect choice for you:
1. Paul Mitchell Culture
At Paul Mitchell The School Boise, we foster a unique culture of caring. As a Future Professional (our term for student) you are accepted and encouraged to be yourself and chase after your dreams. One Future Professional said, “The culture of Paul Mitchell The School is to do whatever you can to give back. It’s about doing what makes you happy, making people smile, and changing people’s lives.”
Extracurricular programs are also offered so that everyone can get involved. Whether you’re volunteering and serving the local community with the Be Nice Or Else Team, planning a themed day with the Student Council, raising money for charity during FunRaising season, styling projects and photoshoots with the Design team, or one of the many other options, there is a club that is perfect for you! Participating in extracurriculars is a great way to learn and have fun outside of class.
2. Quality of education
A Paul Mitchell Schools education is about much more than just getting your license. Our unique, multifaceted curriculum gives you the skills you need to be successful: a thorough grounding in technique, artistry and business, plus career resources, advice, contacts, and support.
If you ask any salon professional what can prepare you to be successful in the beauty industry, many of them will tell you it’s practice on real people! Knowing this, we put a focus on offering discounted services to the public to allow our Future Professionals to receive the most practice possible. Paul Mitchell The School Boise receives one of the highest levels of client traffic of all Paul Mitchell Schools.
Because we’re part of the Paul Mitchell Schools network, we’re also able to offer our Future Professionals opportunities for life-changing education workshops with some of the most talented individuals in the industry. At Caper, a two-day, hands-on, educational extravaganza designed exclusively for Paul Mitchell students, you are able to learn alongside hundreds of other Future Professionals from the 100+ Paul Mitchell partner schools nationwide. Caper includes instruction from world-renowned artists and educators who do hair and makeup for movies, television, broadway, and celebrities.
At Paul Mitchell The School Boise, we are also a part of a system of 5 locally owned schools that participate in a yearly New York City trip where Future Professionals travel together to gain new experiences and education from the universally-acclaimed Vivienne Mackinder!
3. 3-day schedule
We offer various tracks to ensure flexible scheduling for Future Professionals, allowing them to come to school for as few as 3 days a week. This gives our future professionals 4 days of the week to share time with family, pursue other schooling, work, etc. The best part is that even while on a 3-day schedule, our Future Professionals still graduate at a full-time pace (usually less than 15 months for cosmetology students!)
4. Business Classes
We know that even talented beauty professionals may not be successful in the industry without necessary business skills, so we prioritize letting our future professional “double major” in business while receiving training in their respective programs. Your business experience is enhanced at Paul Mitchell The School Boise by a curriculum that includes guest artist presentations (experienced business professionals in the beauty industry), weekly professional development classes on topics that range from growing social media presence to opening a salon, courses in personal finance, how to measure and grow key performance indicators while in the salon, and much more.
5. Network and Placement
Paul Mitchell Advanced Education is a national network with over 100 schools and growing. We emphasize connecting our Future Professionals with experienced industry professionals to supply them with as much networking, industry knowledge, and experience as they would like to receive. Our network includes big names in the beauty industry like Kelly Cardenas, Vivienne Mackinder, Dean Banowetz, Tammy Taylor, and more, as well as local salons, barbershops, and spas. In addition to our network, we employ staff members at each school who are familiar with local salons and the job market to help our Future Professionals get placed with real jobs.
