Lacie Luker

Night School Co-Lead Learning Leader/Core Specialist/FUNraising Creative Master/Design Team Co-Leader, Paul Mitchell School graduate

Experience in education…

As a Future Professional I had the opportunity to attend Caper twice and was selected to attend Beacon in San Antonio Texas. I started working as a Learning Leader in February of 2011. From the minute I was blessed to start working at Paul Mitchell the School Boise, I've had the opportunity to do more amazing things then I would have ever imagined! I've traveled to many places for multiple trainings, like New York for a 2 day hands on training with Vivienne Mackinder, earned my way to Caper in Las Vegas as a Learning Leader and helped assist Collin Caruso and Lucie Doughty in Color Class. I have also attended Core Advanced Academy trainings in Salt Lake City and Chicago with Jenn Carnesecca, Bekah Nash, and Mendi Clavin. I have been trained and inspired by other mentors such as, Jason Reyes, Evie Larson, Emma Long, Taryn Aiken, Dave Holland, Winn Claybaugh, George Morales, Brennan Claybaugh, Stephanie Kocielski, Debra Dietrich, Melissa Jaqua and Abe Barron. I have certified in many Advanced Academy trainings including, color, cutting, makeup, and texture.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I worked behind the chair for 5 years before I started teaching. I spent a short amount of time working at Phillips James Focus Salon in Boise until I decided that my real passion lived within the freelance business. Now I spend a good amount of my free time doing hair and make up for weddings, photo shoots, and entering contests like Next Top Photo Stylist. My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is… My Core Learning Leader, Shelby Birch. She's one of the reasons I wanted to become a Learning Leader! She has inspired me from the day I started school- always happy, laughing, loving and inspiring those around her... Exactly what I strive to be like!

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Costa Mesa is…

Everything!! But I'll narrow it down... I love coming to work and knowing that I work with some of the best friends I've ever had. I also love being Co-Lead of Design team with Amanda E. and planning hair shows! One of my favorite moments is seeing the Future Professionals step outside their comfort zone to participate in them. Then to watch as their story boards come to life as they prep their model. It makes me so excited!

To me, living beautifully means…

Helping those in need and finding inspiration all around you, even in the little things. I constantly strive to be happy every day, every hour, every minute... Drew Barrymore said it best, "I think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period. Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness." To live beautifully means to be yourself in ALL that you do, no matter what! "There is only one of you for all of time... Fearlessly be yourself!"

Kaitlyn Garcia

Barber Learning Leader

Experience in education…

I have been teaching for one year now.

Experience in the beauty industry…

My experience in this industry started when I was young. I spent my days at my dad's shop sweeping floors and watching the traditional barbershop experience. As I grew, my mother became a barber-stylist instructor and married another barber-stylist instructor, both of whom took me under their wings to show me the ins and outs of the industry.

I have worked both at a traditional barbershop and also at a salon, and have been mentored by stylists who have been in the industry for over 30 years.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

It's hard to limit my most inspirational mentors. My father, Ed Garcia, first introduced me to this field at a young age. As I went through college and on to my career, he continually guided me and worked with me to polish my skills. My mother, Debra Perkins, taught me from a young age color theory and advanced my color theory knowledge during and after my education. Finally, my stepfather, Brad Perkins, made it possible for me to go to school, and taught me true professionalism and business work. All my other instructors, Steve Burd, Becky Erickson, and Nikki Zimmerman, pushed me day in and day out to strive for my best and helped cultivate my passion in the industry.

My favorite thing about working at The School Boise is…

The amazing staff and students. The environment here is always so welcoming and energized; everyone has the same goal and it is so invigorating to be surrounded by such driven and caring individuals.

To me, living beautifully means…

To enjoy and learn from each moment, good or bad. Everything and anything can be turned into a lesson, and what you take from it will be your legacy. Embrace life, surround yourself with good people, and persevere until you reach your wildest goals.

Mike Every

Experience in the beauty industry…

I’m new to the industry and I’m loving it!

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

My Grandpa. He taught me the importance of hard work and dedication.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Boise is…

The people! I love helping Future Professionals to see the big picture.

To me, living beautifully means…

Having dinner with my family every night and reading bedtime stories to my kids.

Evie Larsen

Cutting Specialist/Makeup Specialist/member of the Advanced Academy Makeup Team, Paul Mitchell School graduate

Experience in education…

I was a Paul Mitchell Home Grown, helped open and worked as an Education leader at Paul Mitchell the School Wichita from 2008 to 2013, and also helped open and work as an Education Leader at Paul Mitchell the School Logan in 2014 before moving to Boise to work as a Learning Leader in the classroom and on the clinic floor. I have a strong desire to educate and love continuing to work on my own career path in the Paul Mitchell Schools. I am Level 4 certified in cutting and makeup; Level 2 certified in color.

Experience in the beauty industry…

Outside of the schools I work for the Advanced Academy Makeup Team. I love to train and see other schools staff and students grow in the specialist of makeup. Being on the team has also brought along many opportunities to work backstage at Paul Mitchell's bigger shows like Caper and Gathering. Was the 2013 Top Photo Stylist Makeup Winner. Loves doing Photo Shoot work and freelance wedding and makeup work. Believes that adding makeup to your service menu makes you the most well rounded salon stylist out there.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is...

Winn Claybaugh. His ‘Be Nice Or Else’ culture has made me the person I am today. I have been changed by his commitment to making the industry a nice and pleasant place to work and grow. I am a better person because of his message and what he stands for. I’m grateful to work for such an amazing mentor and friend.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Boise is...

The Future Professionals. I love seeing them grow from learning the basic skills to becoming a very free, creatively minded set of students with vision and the skills to back it. I love assisting on the floor with guests and seeing the victories and discoveries that take place. I think it's our biggest classroom and where we see the most growth and successes for the Future Professionals.

To me, living beautifully means...

Being kind to those around you whether they deserve it or just need it. A smile, hug, hello or even just a helping hand can mean the most to people and if done with the right intent it can create a ripple effect. Spreading happiness to those around you builds trust and connections that are life changing. I hope to always be a positive light in someone’s day. That's why I love that we call ourselves day makers. We truly can change a person’s bad day to good with not only our talents and skills with hair but also with how we move people with our words and touch.
