Team

Meet some of the Learning Leaders and team members who make Paul Mitchell The School Costa Mesa so special.

Debbie Spector

Director / Paul Mitchell School Graduate

Experience in education…

I taught pre-kindergarten for 10 years before joining Paul Mitchell The School North Haven in 2005. I attended Paul Mitchell The School North Haven from 2010 to 2011.

Experience in the beauty industry…

In my time with Paul Mitchell Schools, I have served as Service Desk Coordinator, Admissions Leader, Sales Leader, and Co-Director.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

My mom. She is strong, courageous, inspirational, and a woman of great integrity.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…

Living our “Be Nice” culture!

To me, living beautifully means…

Celebrating life with every breath you take!

Mario Landino

Director / Dean

Experience in education…

I have been in the cosmetology school business since 2002.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I have been a hairdresser and salon owner since 1987.

My mentors, or the people who have most inspired me are…

Personally, my parents. Professionally, Vidal Sassoon. Because of his creativity, he taught hairdressers how to cut shape into a haircut. He also overcame numerous obstacles growing up during World War II.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…

Jumpstarting people’s careers and helping them start living their dreams in the beauty industry and in their personal lives.

To me, living beautifully means…

Being happy with who you are and what you are doing, and being in the now and present with everyone and everything.

Laura Landino

Director / Dean

Experience in education…

I have been a cosmetology school director since 2001.

Experience in the beauty industry…

Since 1986, I have worked as a hairdresser, educator, sales team member, and trainer.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

My hairdressing teacher. She left an impression on me when she took me under her wing while I was a student.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…

Getting to change lives every day and mentor young adults in the soft skills, talent, and education required to fulfill their dreams of working in the beauty industry.

To me, living beautifully means…

Living life with integrity, honesty, and loyalty to yourself and others.

Ashli Albert

Education Leader / Paul Mitchell School Graduate

Experience in education…

I’ve worked as a Learning Leader since 2011 and I’ve loved every minute. Core is my main focus and I am also passionate about cutting, blonding, and preparing our Future Professionals for the salon.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I worked as a stylist at Captiva Salon in Wallingford, where I gained knowledge through continuing education and focused on creating an amazing guest experience. As part of the Paul Mitchell The School Danbury team, I have had the opportunity to take classes with some of the best artistic minds in the industry and to attend Paul Mitchell Schools’ Caper event twice. When I’m not at the school on Saturdays, I’m behind the chair at Sweet Dee’s Beauty Parlour, a salon I helped open with my best friend.

My mentors, or the people who have most inspired me are…

My two daughters, because they have taught me so much. Take risks! Be yourself! Try something new! And everything doesn’t have to be so serious ... we do a lot of laughing at our house!

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…

Seeing that “light bulb” moment when a Future Professional learns something new. Also seeing all the amazing careers our graduates have started with our help; it’s very rewarding to know I was part of that. Oh, and I like to have fun. We work hard but we play hard, too!

To me, living beautifully means…

Enjoying your life. I work at living a positive life every day and I try to bring that positivity into every room I enter.

Brittany Bloom

Core Specialist / Nail Specialist / Paul Mitchell School Graduate

Experience in education…
I have been with Paul Mitchell the School Danbury Since 2015.

Experience in the beauty industry…
After graduating, I worked at JC Penny Salon in Danbury, Connecticut.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…
I honestly cannot choose one person. I learn a little from everyone I encounter and I am inspired by all of them. Even bitter people inspire me to be grateful!

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…
Seeing the growth in our Future Professionals, even when they don’t see it in themselves. It’s beautiful to help and watch them grow.

To me, living beautifully means…
Knowing how important you are. I believe everyone has some sort of importance in this world, but not everyone feels as if they do. You can have a terrible day, but if you can put your head on your pillow and know someone thinks about you, worries about you, learns from you, and breathes because of you, then that is truly beautiful. If you’re not in a position where you make a positive/important change in someone’s world (whether physically, emotionally, and/or mentally), then change that because you’re missing out!

Lauren Jacob

Learning Leader

Experience in education…

My teaching career began when I was asked to temporarily substitute teach at the cosmetology school I attended. I loved helping people grow and become passionate in the field I love so much. When presented with the position of Learning Leader at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury, I jumped at the opportunity.

Experience in the beauty industry…

Since 2007, I've explored many opportunities, including working behind the chair, doing FX makeup for local films, doing hair and makeup for the Investigation Discovery Channel, and working on Broadway talent for charity events.

My mentors, or the people who have most inspired me are…

My parents. They are two of the hardest working individuals I have ever met. They inspire me to keep pushing and to be a driving force. I’m blessed to have them to look up to.

Favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…

The culture at our Paul Mitchell Schools.

To me, living beautifully means…

Always being true to yourself and never having to apologize for it.

Experience in the beauty industry…

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

Krista Deprey Shirley, my Protégé Learning Leader when I was a Future Professional. She always pushed me to do better, be the best version of myself, and not make excuses. A hardworking mother, educator, and stylist, she is passionate and dedicated, and I strive to be on her level. I worked with her in North Haven and now I am honored to call her a friend. She is still there for me, constantly pushing me, giving me a boost of confidence and a kick in the pants whenever I need it.

Favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Danbury is…

I get to wake up every day and change lives! I love helping Future Professionals move closer to achieving their goals. This isn’t just a job; this is my career and my passion. I love what I do, who I do it with, and who I do it for!

To me, living beautifully means…

Being the same person on the inside as you are on the outside; being honest, being who you are, and embracing that person; always trying to put your best foot forward; and being your best self every day ... and I try to do just that!

Our culture. I love how we put our Future Professionals first. We are not just creating better hairstylists; we are about creating better people.

To me, living beautifully means…

A life lived beautifully is a life filled with joy. It is a life that has meaning and is characterized by seeing beauty in all things. I want to always be striving toward being a better person, doing the best things I can for my family, and living a healthy life. I want to do at least one thing I am proud of every day.
