Experience in education…

I attended the University of Hawaii and graduated beauty college. I receive ongoing education with John Paul Mitchell Systems to inspire, grow, and lead.

 

Experience in the beauty industry…

As a master associate in education for John Paul Mitchell Systems, I have educated other beauty professionals. As a Focus Salon owner, I have grown a team of successful hairdressers working behind the chair. Our school's focus has been to develop technically strong professionals who have been given the skill sets to be successful in the beauty industry.

 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

John Paul DeJoria. He’s a great leader with a huge heart, working on making this world a better place to live in.

In education, my mentor would have to be my uncle. He opened the door to the many opportunities of teaching, and has continually supported me throughout my journey. I am inspired by many; however, my friends inspire me the most, as I am witness to their strength, perseverance, and determination in all aspects of life.

Experience in education…

My interest in the field has been since childhood, leading to formal training in 1987. I have been at Paul Mitchell The School Honolulu for over six years.

 

Experience in the beauty industry…

I officially entered the beauty industry in 1990. I have done much in the industry, including backstage work and pageantry. My experiences led me to the Paul Mitchell Senior Associate program, and currently I am a Learning Leader at Paul Mitchell The School Honolulu.

 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

My parents, as well as John Paul DeJoria, Stephanie Kocielski, Angus Mitchell, Robert Cromeans, Scott Cole, Linda Yodice, Takashi, Floyd Kenyatta, Joannie Rossiter, Jan Sakiyama, and my children. All these people have contributed significantly to the things that I draw my strength from. They have also positioned themselves to help me grasp the concepts of being a legend and a true professional.

The Future Professionals. To see how eager they are to get to the next level, and to be in the industry. I know that I have been and am in the presence of greatness, and it makes my heart sing to know that I may have been instrumental in their journey.

Experience in education…

I have been a Learning Leader at Paul Mitchell The School Honolulu since 2012. Previously, I held roles as a trainer and facilitator of NCA, now the Professional Beauty Association. I have also been associated with The Hawaii State Cosmetologist Association and the Honolulu Cosmetologist Association. I've served as a styles director and assistant director, and have participated in the Look Good Feel Better Program.

 

Experience in the beauty industry…

I am a licensed cosmetologist and instructor and have participated in advanced training. I have also worked with companies such as Toni & Guy, Vidal Sassoon, Matrix, Redken, Wella, Sebastian, L’Oréal Europe, Gary Gerrad, and Tosh Toya. In addition, I have been part of trade shows both nationally and internationally.

 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

Paul Mitchell, Jean Bra, and Robert Cromeans.

Teaching the Future Professionals. Sharing what I know and helping them to grow through learning.

I have been a Learning Leader for 12 years and have participated in Paul Mitchell Advanced Education.

 

Experience in the beauty industry…

For the past 15 years I have been a hairdresser/stylist behind the chair and currently own my own salon. I am involved with MAC Cosmetics and the Miss Hawaii organization. In addition, I have worked with various photographers in both Hawaii and Los Angeles, including David LaChapelle.

 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…

My mother. She always told me to focus on what I wanted in life, and to go after my goals to create my own story.
