Team

Meet some of the team members who make Paul Mitchell The School Ogden so special.

JESSE LEE

FUTURE PROFESSIONAL ADVISOR

Experience in Education
After graduating PMTS-SLC I knew I wanted to stay with Paul Mitchell Schools, so I set out to have a basic understanding of each position within PMTS. I have worked as a Learning Leader, Service Desk Coordinator, Sales Lead, Future Professional Advisor, Financial Aid Leader, and now Admissions Leader. I have also been a captain of several of our Student Run Programs.

Experience in Beauty Industry
I have been working in the Beauty Industry for 7 years now, two of those years were spent working in Atlanta in an up-scale salon. I quickly realized my passion in this industry lies within the Future Professionals, so I chose to return to Paul Mitchell Schools where I know I would like the rest of my career to be spent. I never realized before going to Cosmetology school your career options are endless!

Are you a Paul Mitchell Graduate?
Yes, I graduated from Paul Mitchell the School - Salt Lake City.

My Mentor, or person who has most inspired me is...
One person that has always inspired me is Taryn Aiken. I had the opportunity to learn from her as a Future Professional while attending school and she has always left an impression. I love the work she does with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell the School Ogden is...
Hands down, the Culture we teach. The Culture is something that has forever changed my life in so many different ways, and that same Culture is throughout our PMTS-Ogden team. It's not always easy to find a team that works so well together, and shows nothing but respect for each other!

To me, Living beautifully means...
Living beautifully to me means living your life without judgement for anyone else, continuously working on yourself to improve the person you want to be. I don't believe we are ever done "growing" we should always continue to improve ourselves and be self aware. Being kind to everyone else around us and being respectful to everyone we meet. We have no idea what people are going through on a daily basis, and to be able to be kind to everyone, and cast no judgement makes me feel like I am living life beautifully and full.

ALEX'S STORY

BIO -
Alex was born in Ogden (Utah), and is half Navajo Indian. Her native roots run deep, and it is something she is extremely proud of! She discovered her passion for Hairdressing when she was about 18 years old. She was drawn to the passion of creativity that this industry provides. After graduating High School, Alex decided to attend a traditional University. She knew it wasn't what her desires were, but decided to give it a go. After a year of attending, not knowing what she was going to major in, she decided to change her route and attend school for Master Esthetics. After obtaining her Master Esthetics License, she felt as though something was still missing. She soon realized what was missing the whole time; creativity. (The reason behind starting the journey into the beauty industry.) It was shortly after this discovery that Alex enrolled at Paul Mitchell the School Ogden. "Enrolling at PMTS Ogden changed my life! I felt as if I finally found what I wanted to do with my career. The best part is, I had a natural talent for it! I couldn't be more grateful for my decision to join Paul Mitchell, and finally becoming a part of the Hairdressing Industry!" -Alexandria Morrison

WHAT ARE YOU GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS THUS FAR IN YOUR CAREER?

"To narrow it down is so challenging. Every client is an accomplishment. However, if I had to really sit down and nail it out, I would have to say my greatest accomplishments thus far would be building confidence, learning about respect, using my creativity in ways I never imagined, and lastly; the importance of continuing education." We asked Alex to go more into detail with each of those things, and here is what she had to say.

"Having confidence behind the chair is NUMBER 1! If you don't have confidence in yourself, neither will your guest!"

"R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Find out what it means to me! (Made you sing that to the tune, didn't I) ;) Respect is one of the hardest behaviors to learn. Without respect, you lose so much more than just a guest..you lose mentors, friends, opportunities, and more. Having respect for everyone is crucial in this industry."

"Creativity. The thing that drew me to the industry in the very beginning. For some reason, I kept pushing it aside, and doing other things that didn't fill my cup. Now, I have learned that there is truly an entirely different way to tap into that creativity, and really let it show. Creativity allows me to get inside my brain along with allowing me to work with the most amazing people to create beautiful work! I would not have been able to enter NAHA, or do any type of photo shoot for that matter, with out the gift of creativity.

"Lastly, continuing education. Both of the Salons I have worked for offered incentives for Advanced/Continued Education. All of the things mentioned above (and more), would not of made an impact if I didn't have the opportunity to continue my education. I have been beyond grateful with what I have been able to learn and continue to learn outside of school!"

WHO WERE/ARE YOUR MENTORS IN THE INDUSTRY?

"My mentors change by the day! I am continuously inspired and motivated by so many, especially within the industry. Right now I'd have to say: Kevin Murphy, Jake Thompson, Fumi Eguchi, Vidal Sasson, and Chrystopher Benson." (Told you I can't narrow it down)

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS AND ALUMNI?

"My best piece of advice would be to stay motivated and passionate! Hairdressing and building your business and brand is hard work. If this is truly your passion, it will show through your work! With all the hard work you put in, success will absolutely follow soon after"
