Experience in education…

This is my first teaching position.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I have been licensed since 2000 and have worked in salons coast to coast.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me…

My mom is the person who has inspired me the most because she is so genuine and hard working. I have always looked up to her for being so patient and loving to everyone.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Portland is…

I love learning new techniques and have even been introduced to a few new ones since working here.

To me, living beautifully means…

Lots of self-love, treating everybody with kindness and respect, and giving back to your community.

Lorin Arendt

Operations Assistant

Experience in the beauty industry…

I have worked at Paul Mitchell The School Portland for seven years behind the scenes in operations.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me…

Bill Watterson, who is the creator of Calvin and Hobbes. When he was at the height of his popularity he had the integrity to stand up for his artistic vision and even under pressure, didn’t sell out for merchandising.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Portland is…

The sense of family.

To me, living beautifully means…

Living with a sense of self, poise and grace under pressure, and knowing the difference between holding on or letting go.

Experience in education…

I have a B.A. in Business Administration and graduated in cosmetology from Paul Mitchell The School Portland.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I am a wedding specialist, hairstylist, and makeup artist.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me…

My mother has inspired me the most. I was raised surrounded by strong, driven women, and I was never allowed to give up and always strived to do better.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Portland is…

Inspiring the next generation of Future Professionals to take this industry by storm and to become the next heavy hitters, not only at John Paul Mitchell Systems, but in the world of beauty as a whole.

To me, living beautifully means…

Loving what you do.

Elise L. Howard

Learning Leader/Superhero

Experience in education…

Paul Mitchell is my first official teaching job. I have been a product knowledge educator and makeup/extension specialist (trainer) at two previous salons.

Experience in the beauty industry:

My experience began at an early age. I got my first job in the beauty industry in high school where I worked for Victoria’s Secret doing hair/makeup and that allowed me to partake in many local photo shoots over the years. Then I started beauty school and through training and interning, I worked my way into a salon.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me…

My life mentor is my grandmother. I admire and aspire to be as strong and as patient as she is. She is wise, brave, and loves unconditionally. My career mentor is Scott Ramos. He works hard and is always eager to learn. He never acts like he knows it all, which is why he is amazing at his craft.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Portland is…

Seeing the happiness and confidence on my Future Professionals’ faces when they learn something, understand it, and get to utilize their new knowledge.

To me, living beautifully means…

Doing what you love and loving what you do. Living beautifully is simply surrounding yourself with the things and people that you find beautiful, inside and out.

Trevor McAllister

Learning Leader/Core

Experience in education…

I have over five years of teaching experience. I went to cosmetology school in Arizona for two years and was a head cutting educator for three years.

Experience in the beauty industry…

I have over 12 years of experience. I attended school in North Dakota, trained with Toni & Guy and worked for them for four years. After that, I had a  booth rental for six years and became a cutting specialist.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me…

The Mascolo family and Vidal Sassoon. I’ve learned visual cutting from the Mascolos and precision cutting from Sassoon.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Portland is…

Having the ‘light bulb’ moment when a student finally realizes they can do what they’ve been telling themselves that they can't.

To me, living beautifully means…

Making people feel good about themselves. Also, teaching someone who knows nothing about hair and seeing how much they can grow. I can put myself in their shoes because I didn’t know anything about hair when I started as well.

Heidi Torrison

I have been a Learning Leader at Paul Mitchell The School Phoenix for one year, a Future Professional advisor, and now an education leader at Paul Mitchell The School Portland.

To live in gratitude and harmony in all that surrounds us. It means to bloom where you are planted.
