Lou earned his Juris Doctorate degree has spent over 20 years in education with a passion to not only deliver technical skills but also life skills. He is currently serving as a commissioner on the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences.

Lou grew up in the beauty industry. His father was an established school and salon owner and platform hairdresser. Lou has been a school owner for over 15 years.

Experience in the Beauty Industry: I worked for a family owned chain of salons where I spent seven years in management, 4 years as their regional trainer; during which time I discovered my passion for teaching and instructing.

Paul Mitchell Graduate: No I graduated from a beauty school named Govan’s in 1993

My mentor, or person who has most inspired me is: My Cosmetology instructor Mark Hill, because he pushed and inspired me to do things I didn’t think were possible.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell the School Richland is: (LMA) The pride I feel watching my students succeed. When they light up at a successful hair service and beam with confidence as their experience grows.

To me, living beautifully means: Allowing yourself to be as happy as possible. Taking in all of life’s experiences to the absolute fullest. Learning, loving and pampering ourselves during the process.

Cosmetology, Esthetician and Master Esthetician instructor

Experience in the beauty industry…

Worked for Lucas Marc for 4 ½ years as a cosmetology instructor and occasional esthetics instructor. Before that I worked at Regis Hair Salon for a year right out of school and then Fantastic Sams for 1 ½ years before I decided to go back to school.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is

my sister, she has been doing hair for 19 years. I used to go to the salon and watch her work. I was amazed to see her client’s expressions of gratitude when she was done with the service, I knew what I wanted to be. Also my students inspire me daily, getting the chance to help mold them into amazing stylist is and unbelievable opportunity.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Richland is…

the amazing people and students I get to work with. Some of them have even become family. The way we all come together when someone is in need. From blood drives to bake sales, its so beautiful.

To me, living beautifully means…

we only have this one chance to leave our mark on the world, let’s make it a positive one. Being able to help change one person’s life is incredible, imagine if we all lived to inspire.

Dawn and Alan Hatch. I catch myself daily asking myself what they would do or say if they were in my shoes…. Because they were for so many years.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Richland is

I don’t feel like I am at work when I am here. I love to see the instructors and students grow and be creative. I also love working with the public and meeting new people. I have an amazing team filled with some of the best instructors.

Always giving 100% and living with no regrets. Each and every day gives us something to be thankful for and an opportunity to learn.

Licensed Educator for 22 years. I’ve taught at Professional Beauty School and Lucas Marc Academy. I have my Barber License, Cosmetology License, Instructor License, Master Esthetician License and I am CTE Certified.

27 years in the beauty industry to include salon work, hair shows, and participating in extra educational classes.

My passion for hair started when I was really young and watching my aunt run a successful salon in PA. I chose a different path as a communications major. After deciding corporate America wasn’t for me, I pursued my license and have been teaching and working behind the chair.

I went to cosmetology school and to be an instructor. During my instruction I student taught the freshman and sophomore students.

When I finished cosmetology school, I started working at LMA in the dispensary before I took the instructor course. I love teaching!

My beautiful mother Sue Shrode is my role model. She has always taught me to do what I absolutely love and to live each day to the fullest.

I adore going to work every day. I love my coworkers and all of the students. I learn new things every day from amazing students.

Making the most out of every day. I will always smile at anyone I come across and I find myself telling jokes to make people happy. If I can make at least one person smile or their day is a little brighter than my life is just that much more beautiful.
