Graduated from Von Curtis Academy in 1993.
Seventeen years with Paul Mitchell the School Provo and Paul Mitchell Advanced Education.
School Director at Paul Mitchell the School Spokane 2015-present

Experience in the beauty industry…
Texture Lead Specialist for Advanced Academy, Success Coach, Corporate Training, Product Development of curriculum and school support materials, all around does it all.

 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…
My daughter.  She is such a beautiful person both inside and out.  She has pushed me to be the best I can be in all that I do. My granddaughter.  She is showing me a whole new world through her eyes and about unconditional love.

 

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Spokane is
It’s more than cutting hair.  It’s about growing and developing capable human beings who will do amazing things in their lifetimes.

To me, living beautifully means…
Being integral in all that you do and sharing your gifts with those around you.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is… 
My mentors rotate depending on what my focus is. They are always someone that has been or is where I want to go. They have great coaching skills and are also open to coaching.

That is something new and exciting every day.

To me, living beautifully means…
Simplifying. Living with a purpose and balance in work and personal life.

Experience in education…
I graduated from North Idaho College with my AS in Psychology. I plan to go back to school when I have a better grasp on what I want out of life.

Experience in the beauty industry…
One of my favorite things to do is have one of our Future Professionals show and teach me something that they're working on. I've successfully passed the core exam, but that's as far as my knowledge of cosmetology goes.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Spokane is
The environment that the culture creates. We are all supportive of one another in every endeavor and I truly see PMTS as my second family and a huge part of my support system. 

To me, living beautifully means…
Living to ones fullest extent. In this day and age, we can be pulled in many directions. The key is to manage your focus so you fill the cups of the people around you, while ensuring yours isn’t depleted in the process. 

Vanessa Marcus

Color and Phase Two Specialist

Experience in education…
I have been teaching since September 2012. I have been blessed to travel frequently since 2013 to many states for my continued education not only for technical skills but Sales, Business and Leadership as well. I have held many positions in the school and currently hold the Phase Two and Color Specialist roles.

Experience in the beauty industry…
I worked in a full service salon and Spa for two years before joining the Paul Mitchell education staff. I LOVE color and all SPA services; full body waxing, facials, manicures and pedicures.

My mentor or the person who has most inspired me is… 
I would say my current mentor is my husband; cliche I know. However, he is the rock to our family. He supports my careers goals and is my biggest cheerleader. He manages to find balance between work, school, our marriage and his friendships. He is truly my hero.

 

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Spokane is
Definitely knowing I am providing top notch education. I am given all of the tools and skill set to create successful Future Professionals I am proud to call graduates.

Coming to school every day knowing that I can make a difference and being surrounded by good people and a great team.

Loving one another, not being afraid to say I was wrong or sorry. Using the gift that was given to me to help others and living every day being nice and not having any regrets.

I graduated Paul Mitchell the School Spokane in January 2017. I was an independent hairstylist at Rumors Salon in Spokane Valley before joining the service desk team. 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…
My mentors are Vanessa Marcus and Beverly Robbins, both are learning leaders at Paul Mitchell the School. They pushed me to be my best all the time and inspired me to become a learning leader myself one day. 

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Spokane is
The atmosphere of the school is my favorite. We all encourage each other and celebrate differences. It's a happy place to be all the time.

Living beautifully to me means being your 100% self all the time, and confidently doing so.

Experience in the education…
Studied for 2.5 years at Eastern Washington University. I was undecided about what I wanted to do for a career so I have taken time off to discover my calling. I plan to go back to school when I have that “ah-ha” moment.

Experience in the beauty industry…
I worked at N.W. Beauty Supply for 1.5 years where I learned about different product lines and how salons run. I was able to take classes to better my understanding of products and procedures.

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is… 
My mom! She has always encouraged me to work to my full potential and challenge myself. Ever since I’ve had hair, my mom has gone out of her way to make sure that she was educated about how to treat and style my hair. My mom is the most selfless person I know and I am beyond lucky to be her daughter.

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Spokane is… 
The opportunity for advancement is endless! If you want to challenge yourself to work harder and gain more responsibility, you are always able and encouraged to do so. I also love how the school thrives off of team work!

Living beautifully means, being genuine and perceptive to all people. Treating others, the way you want to be treated.

The people!!! They make everything so fulfilling.

To me living beautifully is an attitude and persona people tell me all the time that they wouldn't be able to wear my style. And I have to tell them it's all attitude and being confident with who you are.

Clinic Floor Learning Leader

Experience in education…
I completed my cosmetology instructor program in 2011 and began working as a Learning Leader for Paul Mitchell the School Spokane.  I worked on the clinic floor and taught the final phase class.

 

Experience in the beauty industry…
I worked at a Barber shop after I received my cosmetology license until I returned to Paul Mitchell to complete the instructor program with several years of salon experience.   

 

My mentor, or the person who has most inspired me is…
My Grandma and my mom.  They have pushed me to follow my dreams and motivated me to push myself in all aspects of my life.  I have always wanted to help and make people feel good about themselves and felt teaching was a great way to help others in something they are passionate about as well.

 

My favorite thing about working at Paul Mitchell The School Spokane is
I love the culture and being able to see each student blossom in individually.  Being a part of that experience while helping them to grow and develop the skills to live their passion in the beauty industry. 

 

To me, living beautifully means…
To treat everyone with respect and love and to have compassion for others.  Living a life that is intentional and purpose filled.
