Take a moment to get to know some extraordinary Paul Mitchell The School Michigan alumni.
Their stories speak to the power of dreaming big—and getting a great education.
Although her father was one of the most famous black hair stylists in his time, Jocelyn never thought she would be a hair stylist. Soon after being let go from a job, a friend of hers insisted she attend Paul Mitchell Schools. She did and her life has never been the same!
Q: How did you get your first job after graduating?
A: While attending Paul Mitchell The School Michigan, I entered into a competition selling hair products with my friends and won a trip to a Grand Rapids hair show. We were invited to go backstage before the show where we met Robert Cromeans and his team. The next morning, my group was invited to help prep hair for Robert’s show. Nine months later I moved to California and I worked for Robert for almost five years.
Q: What advice do you have?
A: Charity events are where connections are born! And remember your greatness is not measured by being a salon owner or a celebrity stylist, it’s being able to make someone feel beautiful on their big day and every day.
Q: Have you ever worked in entertainment?
A: My clients work directly with artists such as Nicki Minaj and Rhianna. I have done hair for TV shows and I’ve worked events such as the Oscars, Grammys, and LA Fashion week.
