The Voices of Tomorrow: Our Future Professionals Tell All
We know that starting your career in the beauty industry is nerve-racking for some and exciting for others. Our Future Professionals (students) are here to tell you their personal stories on why they chose the beauty industry and what challenges they had to overcome to start their cosmetology journey. Here at Paul Mitchell The School Cleveland we have the opportunity to meet some amazing Future Professionals. Each one of our Future Professionals has a life story and a passion for this industry, we are delighted to share some of the stories in this blog.
Say hello to our Future Professional @rahrcreations ? Libby is a student in our Cosmetology Program. We wanted to interview Libby to discover her why and her passion for the beauty industry here is what she had to say:
What made you choose Paul Mitchell The School Cleveland?
“I had put in a lot of time researching different schools and programs because this was going to be the biggest 180 career change of my life. With my research, I found Paul Mitchell to be the best fit and I scheduled an interview. By the end of it I was signing all my papers and I was starting school two weeks later!”
Did you have any challenges when trying to pursue your beauty career?
“Switching to this career was a complete 180. So my nerves and anxieties were a huge challenge for me. So I decided to just go with it and take it one day at a time. If I love it one day – great, if I hate it the next day – keep trying. Eventually, I grew to realize it was exactly where I needed to be and I am so glad I took the leap of faith.”
Why did you choose the beauty industry?
“To be honest I didn’t choose the beauty industry as my first choice. My first choice was actually medical school. But after my first year, I knew that it wasn’t what I wanted to be doing with my life – but I also knew that I still wanted to help people and have that close relationship to others still. I had already been doing hair and makeup throughout my high school years and in college to help pay for random things I would do bridal parties hair & makeup. I then soon realized that this was the path for me and it was time to jump in full force so I could make it my career. I then started Paul Mitchell in January of 2020 and the rest is history.”
What do you plan to do after graduation?
“After graduation I am hoping to find a salon that is perfect for me and what I value not only in the professional world but also my everyday values. I have a few shadows set up at some salons and I am hopeful to find the right one! As for the future – my husband and I are planning to move out West! My dream is to open my salon right on our property and have it be a greenhouse as well!”
