Vanguard College of Baton Rouge

We prepare our students (or as we call them, Future Professionals) for careers in the beauty industry as licensed cosmetologists. Students are guided by our Learning Leaders through the Cosmetology program’s three levels—Core, Adaptive and Creative—taking on more advanced techniques and building real-world skills and confidence as they move through each stage.

  • Braiding, up-styling and finishing
  • Perming and smoothing hair
  • Hair coloring and lightening
  • Precision haircutting skills
  • Manicure, pedicure, makeup and facials
  • And much more!

Level 1 Core

CORE allows you to learn the fundamentals in a classroom environment. Practice techniques on mannequin heads while a Learning Leader guides you every step of the way.

Level 2 Adaptive

  • Practice on real people in a salon-like environment
  • Perfect your skills with help from Learning Leaders

Level 3 Creative

  • Work independently (under the supervision of a Learning Leader)
  • Prepare a career portfolio
  • Prepare to pass the State Board test
  • Develop speed and prepare to start your career

Phase Two

  • Optional course of intensive study for the highest-achieving Future Professionals

Student Kit

One of the most exciting days for our Future Professionals is the day they get to unwrap their very own professional kit. It's packed with all the essentials—hot styling tools, mannequin heads, scissors and clips, and much more—so you're ready to succeed in school and launch your dream career.

IPad Included

When you have the latest technology and resources at your fingertips, you'll be more successful in school and in your career. That's why every Future Professional at Vanguard College of Baton Rouge receives an iPad with their student kit, giving them on-the-go access to schoolwork, career advice from industry leaders, Paul Mitchell cutting and coloring apps, and much more.

Net Price Calculator

Please read. This calculator is intended to provide estimated net price information (defined as estimated cost of attendance — including tuition and required fees, books and supplies, room and board (meals), and other related expenses — minus estimated grant and scholarship aid) to current and prospective students and their families based on what similar students paid in a previous year.

By clicking below, I acknowledge that the estimate provided using this calculator does not represent a final determination, or actual award, of financial assistance, or a final net price; it is an estimate based on cost of attendance and financial aid provided to students in a previous year. Cost of attendance and financial aid availability change year to year. The estimates shall not be binding on the Secretary of Education, the institution of higher education, or the State.

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to be eligible for, and receive, an actual financial aid award that includes Federal grant, loan, or work-study assistance. For more information on applying for Federal student aid, go to
