Take a moment to get to know a few extraordinary Michael's School of Hair Design & Esthetics Paul Mitchell Partner School, alumni. Their stories speak to the power of dreaming big and getting a great education.
Chelsea attended Michael's from 2013-2014 and it was an amazing journey. At first, the thought of being a cosmetologist seemed easy; however, she quickly learned that cosmetologists aren't given enough credit for the magic they create every day. She loved the curriculum setup for Paul Mitchell Schools—they made the Future Professionals step out of their comfort zones and try new things, but they never let them get discouraged! The Learning Leaders and the other Future Professionals were always right there to help Chelsea, being her personal cheerleader whenever she needed it. She loved Core, Adaptive, and Creative; in every stage, she learned more and got closer to becoming a beauty magician. She attained many goals while attending the School, and once she graduated from the Cosmetology program, she opened her own salon a week later! She highly recommends Michael’s—a place where you learn so much more than just hair in an amazing and life-changing culture with endless opportunities. She can't thank all the Learning Leaders enough for everything they did to help her throughout her journey and all of the amazing Future Professionals she met while there. Chelsea will forever love her Paul Mitchell Family!
Vikki started Cosmetology school later in life than most of her fellow Future Professionals at Michael's, having graduated at the age of 30. After graduation, she worked in a few salons until finding a home managing a local Regis-owned one. After two years, she decided it was time to be her own boss and become a booth renter. Though she loved it, she missed her Paul Mitchell family. She contacted the School and they were happy to have her return as an Admissions Leader while she maintained booth rental. After almost two years, she came across an amazing opportunity to open her own salon. As much as she didn't want to leave Michael's, doing hair was her true passion and owning her own salon was always her dream. One year later, Cosi Bella Salon & Spa is growing more and more! She doesn't think she could have made her dream come true without the help, support, and education from her Paul Mitchell family at Michael’s!
Andrea Rutkowski, a graduate of Michael's – a Paul Mitchell Partner School, has taken advantage of all that Paul Mitchell Schools have to offer. Her biggest accomplishment at the School was being sent to Las Vegas for Paul Mitchell's student educational event, Caper. At Caper, she brought her resume and networked her way to a Paul Mitchell National Educator's salon in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Andrea moved there shortly after Caper 2011, and began her career by first completing an assistant program. After graduating to a stylist position and spending a year in SC, her inspiration brought her back to her hometown in Massachusetts, where she currently works as a stylist, remaining a strictly Paul Mitchell product/tool/technique user. In 2014, Andrea decided to take the next step in her career by becoming a National Educator herself. After completing the New Talent program, she passed her audition and began her journey as an educator. John Paul Mitchell Systems has stood behind Andrea every step of her journey, from her beauty school experience in 2009 to her current position at Trinity Salon in Fitchburg, MA. Andrea continues to focus her love and passion for the industry, furthering the amazing foundation of education received at Michael's by regularly attending Paul Mitchell's educational events in Las Vegas and Hawaii.
I am an award winning master makeup artist based out of New England. My myriad of experience as an artist includes work with various celebrities, photographers, models, and designers. My words of wisdom and inspiring images have graced the pages of publications such as Vogue, Glamour, Tattoo Magazine, Glamfreak Magazine, and many more.
My mission is to empower both men and women by helping them discover their self-esteem, and makeup can play an integral part of that process. With a blend of creative vision, style, and specializing in both makeup and hair styling, I believe I bring out the natural beauty of my subjects, no matter their gender, ethnicity, or character portrayal.
I've always been interested in fine art since I was very young, and never lost that passion and intrigue. I started painting acrylic on canvas and never looked back—I just changed the canvas. Now I'm a wildly ambitious artist. I love being able to transform my clients and make them see themselves in another light, as well as giving them the knowledge to do it themselves. I'm always inspired, whether it’s by my surroundings or the uniqueness of the individual.
I am a fully licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist in the state of NH, and available to travel on location. I welcome you to view a sampling of my work.
My time at Michael's was truly transformative; I arrived insecure and uncertain, but I left with passion and purpose. Upon graduation, I began working in a Paul Mitchell Signature Salon. Six months later, I got a call from Michael's and returned to begin training as a Learning Leader. Throughout my years there, I held the positions of Core specialist, clinic floor leader for the night program, and cutting specialist. Each position required vigorous training and hours of practice. During my training, I was able to take classes from Robert Cromeans, Angus Mitchell, Stephanie Kocielski, Colin Caruso, Dave Holland, and many other global platform artists. I've worked in Vegas and trained in Dallas, opportunities granted to me through Paul Mitchell. After two years of working for Michael's, I was invited to try out for the national educator program and was selected in the first round! I am now a proud educator, Paul Mitchell Focus Salon stylist, and a new mom!
