Cole Ausborn

Hair Designer, Paul Mitchell The School Columbus graduate

Growing up in small town Versailles, Ohio, I’ve always felt that I was limited in the areas I had a niche. I knew I had a fascination with the combination of art and hair, but didn’t know how to apply or go about pursuing such dreams. Going into my junior year of college pursuing business/advertising, I left school to put my hands to work at Paul Mitchell. I’ve never felt more aligned with my passion and purpose until my first day walking through Paul Mitchell The School Columbus.

I’m no celebrity stylist, but I believe whole heartedly in the climb. Being a personal Cincinnati BenGal hairstylist and having cut professional athletes’ hair, namely Joey Votto, it only makes me that much more hungry. I love this craft and especially love the energy of the industry.

Mentors include: Takashi, Sam Villa, and Guy Yang

Jessica Doggett

Director of Paul Mitchell The School Columbus, Paul Mitchell The School Columbus graduate

Obsessed with success from a young age, Jessica was eager to make her mark in the beauty industry. After completing the Managing Cosmetology program in Cleveland, she uprooted her life and moved to Columbus to open the next location of The Ohio Academy. Ten years later and she’s still striving for excellence as the director of Paul Mitchell The School Columbus.

Tell us about your Paul Mitchell School Education…

I loved every minute of it, and knew from the first moment that I had found my home. I embraced the culture and everything that it had to offer. The skills I learned not only made me a proficient stylist but a better person.

My greatest accomplishments are…

When I look at my staff and student body, I am overwhelmed with pride at what I helped to create. I moved to Columbus to open this location and have worked in every position in this building. I now oversee a staff of strong leaders, most of whom were my Future Professionals.

The best advice I ever got was…

“When nothing goes right, go left.” This mentality has allowed me freedom in decision making, and the ability to think outside of the box. I’ve learned through this that failure is not fatal and there are no mistakes in life, only discoveries.

What I Loved Most About School…

I loved the opportunities that were presented to me.  I was able to work all over the country, assist and learn from the most talented artists in the world, all before I graduated.  My career began the day I walked through the door on my first night of school and I've never looked back!

What Have I Accomplished Since Graduating?

I've grown as an artist, a businesswoman, and an individual.  Since graduating I've learned how to set high expectations of myself and my work, which have led me to avenues in the beauty and fashion industries that I didn't even know existed.  I have made a name for myself as a high-fashion Session Artist, an Educator/Mentor, and now an Independent Salon Owner and Artist.  I take my work seriously but my passion for hair and makeup is what truly drives me.  Graduating has given me a strong sense of self and the confidence to continue being successful while constantly challenging myself to grow and improve and make people feel good about themselves.  If I can inspire other artists, that's just the cherry on top.
