A member of the first graduating class of Paul Mitchell The School Louisville's new location, Nick Carter exited the program in September 2010 with a chair in the Phase Two program. He was a proud member of several clubs in the school and was eventually asked to become president of the student council. Toward the end of his program, Nick competed in the first ever Paul Mitchell Schools Next Top Photo Stylist Contest, and was proud to be the sole representative from the Louisville school. After graduating, Nick went on to accept a position as a stylist with Joseph's Salon and Spa. Joseph's, an Aveda Lifestyle Salon, is one of the top salons in Louisville. It has been named as one of Elle Magazine's Top 100 Salons in the country for the last three years and it was the only salon in Kentucky on the list. In the time since joining Joseph's, Nick has moved up five levels in five years, becoming one of the artistic stylists for the company. In 2013 he competed in the NAHA (North American Hairstyling Awards) competition. When not behind the chair, Nick is an educator within the salon, training many of the new talent stylists in make-up artistry and hair color concepts. Also, as the lead editorial stylist for the salon, Nick has had the pleasure of working with HerScene Magazine, Sophisticated Living, The Voice-Tribune, The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, NStyle Magazine, Louisville Magazine and Louisville Bride, as well as doing ad work for Rodes For Him For Her and B. Marlow Designs. Additionally, Nick has had the privilege of styling hair for a Badgley Mishka runway show, and next year, is planning to work with the Aveda team at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. In the upcoming year, in addition to his work in and out of the salon, Nick will be training to become a Haircolor Educator and Purefessional with Aveda. As such, he will be traveling across the country teaching master classes in the Aveda Color System, and performing on-stage with Aveda's top stylists. Nick is incredibly proud of his city and strives to bring more attention to it within the beauty and fashion world.
