Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

With a career that began at Bella Capelli Academy, I engaged in a full range of hair and makeup education, including a Las Vegas training for highest ranking graduates. I feel my education greatly prepared me for a position at this level. I was taught the proper techniques, product knowledge, and most importantly adopted the Paul Mitchell culture as a Future Professional. You will utilize the skills taught at BCA every day. Going to a Paul Mitchell school was the best decision I made early in my career.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Strive to put yourself in a position that will harvest personal growth. Surround yourself with people that will mentor you. Be approachable and willingly say yes to every opportunity that comes your way!

What Do You Do??

When I first decided to attend Bella Capelli Academy, it was because I really liked the makeup aspect of the industry. I enjoyed learning about hair, but it wasn’t my main interest in the industry. I took a job after school doing nails, and really fell in love with it. I knew about Dallas Beauty Lounge because I followed their social media, and when they posted they were hiring, I jumped on the opportunity. I’ve been here since and absolutely love it.

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

Bella Capelli Academy really taught and helped me with what I wanted to do in this industry. I’m not from the area so by attending Bella Capelli Academy, I discovered so many new places and met amazing people. Even though I came into this knowing I probably wasn’t going to take the traditional hairstylist route, I’m very happy that I am educated and licensed to do all services in cosmetology. If Dallas Beauty Lounge ever expands beyond nails, I already have the training and education to take on everything else. My goal is to encourage the Future Professionals to never give up even if they feel like they're in a rut or unhappy. There's so many opportunities in our field than what meets the eye. I truly think Bella Capelli Academy is the BEST school around, they really helped teach me about all of the different job paths that are available and helped me feel comfortable around clients and know what questions to ask, etc.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

If you are talented and love this industry, search all aspects of cosmetology! I never thought I would be doing nails. Look at all your options and follow your dreams.

What Do You Do??

After graduating from Bella Capelli Academy, I began my career in a small, privately owned salon near the city. It wasn't the best fit for me because I was seeking more of a fast-paced environment to match my fast-paced personality, so that led me to SportClips for thenext few years because I really enjoy mens' cutting and styling. My career at SportClips was awesome, but I am always searching for ways to enhance my skills to advance my career so I decided to leave the corporate salon life to go back to a privately owned salon. I am so happy to say that I am the lead stylist (under the manage/owner) at Nouveau Hair Studio! I still specialize in mens' hair, but also have added block color and nails. Continuing education is super important in this industy so I am currently in the process of receiving certications in Brazilian Blowouts and either hair extensions or eyelash extensions; my salon and I haven't decided which one yet. Nouveau Hair Studio will be hosting booths at multiple hair shows this coming Spring as per my suggestions, and I am so excited and blessed to have such an amazing opportunity to expand my horizon and tap into my full potential!!

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

The staff and other Future Professionals at Bella Capelli Academy had such an amazing and positive attitude that really kept me going. I know that I can always contact the school it I ever need anything because everyone there truly cares to see us succeed.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Stay positive. Keep going. Do everything possible thing you can while in school. This is and will always be an ever-changing industry. Continue to learn and grow as stylists. Do not get stuck in a rut. Watch, listen and observe others as much as you can!

What Do You Do??

When I first began my career after graduation from Bella Capelli Academy, I was in a salon that did not fit me well. I felt very out of place and disappointed to the point where it I lost hope in the industry because I thought all salon-life was like this. I switched careers and picked up a part-time job in retail a part of the management team. Six months into that, I received a phone call from the Admissions Leader at Bella Capelli Academy. She knew about my previous salon experience but also knew I belonged in this industry. I went in for a meeting with her, and a stylist from Sergio's Styles actually texted her while I was sitting right there saying they were looking to hire. It must have been fate because next thing I know, she sent them all my inforation and I get a phone call for an interview. I've been at Sergio's for two years now, and I love it! The relationships I've been able to make with my clients has been so rewarding. Making people feel beautiful in their own skin is my motive and scoring loyal clients is what success is for me. People always thank me but more importantly I'm thankful for them because without loyal clients we don't have jobs!

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

Bella Capelli Academy is a Paul Mitchell Partner School, and Sergio's Styles is a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon so it was a very easy transition. I didn't need any additional training on techniques or color lines because I was taught it all in school! Attending Bella Capelli Academy taught me more than how to pass my state board exam for my license. We learned about culture and diversity in the hair industry. Your job is your craft, it's not just a job. Learning the background of the industry and the company itself is what really attracted me as a prospective Future Professionals when I was school searching.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

It's okay to dream big as long as it's followed with passion! That's really what's kept me going; I genuinely love doing hair.

What Do You Do??

I started at La Pomponnee while I was still in school. I would work two nights a week right when school would let out. I felt like that was good because what I would learn in school, I would take to work with questions on how it ties into the salon. It was cool because I learned Paul Mitchell, and I would use that learning process and knowledge to learn Aveda. When I graduated, I started assisting full-time. The fastest you can get a chair here at La Pomponnee is about nine months, and it actually can take about 2-3 years as well. I got my chair nine months to the date I graduated school. I actually just recently hit my one year mark being a full-time stylist!

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

The most vaulable part of Bella Capelli Academy to me was having clinic as a part of the school day. I love that we got to work on live guests because it pushed me out of my comfort zone. I liked knowing my Learning Leaders were there for me throughout the whole process, especially during consultations. If I had ideas on what I wanted to try, my Learning Leaders would guide me along the way. I also really loved how much we got to do outside the classroom. Being a part of Design Team got us out in the communnity, which in the end helps us grow.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Don't give up. There are some days where you may be discouraged. I knew this was my career path forever, but on the first day we cut in CORE, I got so discouraged that I thought about giving up. I am so happy I didn't.

What Do You Do??

Suzi, the salon owner, came to Bella Capelli Academy to teach a class because she is a national educator for Paul Mitchell Systems. I loved the location of her salon because it's super close to where I am from and where my clientele would be coming from. I spoke briefly with her after the class, and she invited me to come in to check it out. When I got there, she had me do hair and different color applications. She asked me when I graduate from Bella Capelli Academy, and then hired me right there on the spot! I've been here ever since, and I absolutely love it. It's just like school where it feels like home away from home, and my co-workers are my family.

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

Being that The Wright Place is a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon under ownership of a Paul Mitchell educator, my transition from school to work was fairly easy. I already knew the techniques, the color line, and the products. I love when Paul Mitchell releases new product and learning everything about them. I was very fortunate to have the Paul Mitchell name behind my education and now behind my career.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Don't get discouraged. Everything is a learning process. You will make mistakes, but you learn from them- that's why Bella Capelli Academy calls them discoveries!! Have fun with what you are doing. That's the best part of having a career when you truly look forward to going to work every day.

What Do You Do??

I always wanted to go to beauty school, but took the college route first. I attended Duquesne Univeristy and completed my business degree. I began working for my family business, but I knew I wanted more. I actually worked at Caruso Hair & Esthetics throughout college and absolutely loved it. I finally made the decision to follow my passion and attend cosmetology school at Bella Capelli Academy. Once I completed my hours and graduated, I came back to Caruso's, and I couldn't be happier. I have no doubts I belong in this industry.

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

I felt like I was well prepared coming out of school and taking on a stylist position. Other salon professionals I've talked to who went to other schools or completed a program in high school say ther were not given the same opportunities or education techniques. Bella Capelli Academy alumni seem more advanced in both technical and soft skills. Having a clinic classroom while in school was very beneficial because it gave us practice having guests and interacting with them while in school.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Take whatever you can out of school and get as much training as possible. Work on your communication skills and soft skills. Your clientele comes more from how you treat them over how well you do hair. You can have the best color skills in the world, but if you're not nice and don't treat your guest well, they won't come back.

Tell us about your career path:

Everything I've ever done with hair has been through music. When I was 18-years-old, I was singing for the Jeff Reed Show at Mario's in the South Side, and I met Sergio from Sergio's Styles salon. I went to him as a client, and that's when I decided I wanted to go to cosmetology school. After graduation, I began my career at Sergio Styles, but about a year later, I packed up and moved to L.A. to focus more on music. I was out there for two years, and then came back to PA. I saw that my friend Derrick had a little space where he was doing hair so I started working there with him as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my career in the beauty industry. Derrick then opened Head Space Salon & Education, and took me with him as a stylist. Then I was offered a full-time position as a singer for an 80s glam band in Chicago, so I was out on tour for about six months before it kind of fell through. So life brought my back to Pittsburgh, which ultimately was the best because I am back at Head Space and really happy with my career.

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

It's funny because I still use some of the Paul Mitchell products and tools, and we are completely Wella here at Head Space Salon & Education because Derrick, the salon owner, is an educator for Wella. As far as Bella Capelli Academy goes, they offer the best education possible. Other schools don't even compare. You learn the most and in the best ways. There are a lot more opportunities at Bella Capelli Academy as well. I am an absolute horrible test taker, so the fact that I was able to pass my state board examination is just another testimonial to how amazing the education is at Bella Capelli Academy.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Don't expect to be making millions of dollars when you leave school. You have to work your butt off.Utilize the power of social media, and focus on your salon job; the money will come the harder you work.

Tell us about your career path:

When I was in school at Bella Capelli Academy, I started working at a small, privately owned salon with two other stylists. It was nice and great experience; it just wasn't the right fit for me. I heard of Caruso's Hair & Ethetics through a family friend. They said it was amazing, so I gave them a call. About three weeks after going through the application process, I thought to myself "crap, I guess I didn't get it." I didn't take into account that I was applying during the holidays, which one of the busiest seasons in the salon world, so once the holidays were over, I got phone call from one of the owners asking if I was interested in coming in for an interview. They actually weren't looking to hire at that time because all their assistant spots were filled, but they liked me so much from my interview that they offered me a position!

Tell Us About Your Paul Mitchell Schools Education:

Just from talking with other stylists, the time and effort Bella Capelli Academy puts into you and your education is totally different than other schools. The education is way more in depth and specific. I'm very happy I chose to go there because I felt very prepared when I graduated and started working.

My Advice to Future Professionals...

Be humble. The most important thing is that you continue your education beyond graduation. It's also very important to watch the people around you and realize that you don't everything.

I graduated as a cosmetologist with a focus on hair—I fell in love with nail art in the nail room at my first salon. I've been doing nails now for about three years and do extensions on the side.

What about Bella Capelli Academy helped you get to where you are?

I think BCA definitely prepares you for salon reality with the clinic floor. They have trendy clientele of all ages, which I think is good compared to other schools. The teachers are up to date and trendy as well.

Advice to Future Professionals:

Take every opportunity that you can. Be open to all opportunities. Say yes.
