Beauty Changes Lives Awards Scholarships to 4 Paul Mitchell Future Professionals

The Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Foundation awarded seven scholarship awards in Spring 2020, including four recipients from Paul Mitchell Schools.

Mimi Azimi of Paul Mitchell The School Houston received the $15,000 Arnold M. Miller Find-A-Way Scholarship. Inspired by her mother to pursue a calling in America, Mina says, “In my home country of Iran, self-expression came with dire consequences and I lived in daily fear of being imprisoned.” As a hairstylist, Mina wants to touch people’s hearts and make a big impact on the world.

Luis - Luis Rocha Figueroa of Paul Mitchell The School Chicago received the  $5,000 Art of Haircoloring scholarship. Luis spends 36 hours a week as an operations manager at Asha Salon Gold Coast and another 36 hours a week as a cosmetology student. Fascinated by the art and science of blonding, Luis loves helping clients recreate and express themselves, and he loves the endless career opportunities in this industry.

Adriana - Adriana Gladness of Paul Mitchell the School Atlanta received a $5,000 Art of Haircutting scholarship. Blending elements of nature with recollections of ’90s childhood programs, Adriana drew on nostalgia from the past, vision for tomorrow, and celebration of today. At age 32, Adriana says, “My autumn has come and gone and now is my season to bloom.” While she received a hair coloring scholarship, Adriana views the haircut and color as “twins” in a symbiotic relationship. She says the best thing about her job is making her clients feel heard.

Elisabeth - Elisabeth Kornaros of Paul Mitchell The School Greenville received a $5,000 Art of Hairdressing scholarship. Diagnosed with a language-processing disorder at 17, Elisabeth discovered a new way to learn through cosmetology. The aspiring master colorist says, “Seeing the unexplainable joy on a client’s face when she sees her hair color simply feels like heaven.”
