Two Paul Mitchell Future Professionals Named Finalists in Prestigious Competition
Intercoiffure America Canada (ICA) announced the five finalists in their 2026 “Tapestry of Texture” Student Contest – and two of them attend Paul Mitchell Schools.
Congratulations and best of luck to Kendyl Coburn of Paul Mitchell The School Columbus and Mohamad “Wafa” Poty of Paul Mitchell The School Pasadena. Out of the 400 entries submitted, only five finalists will move on to the final level of the competition.
ICA’s annual student contest celebrates the creativity, passion, and artistry of cosmetology students and the instructors who guide them. Open (and free) to students attending accredited cosmetology schools, this year’s competition invited applicants to submit a 30-second video responding to the prompt: “As a future professional, what makes the texture hair category exciting to you?”
As two of the finalists, Kendyl and Wafa will now compete in the technical photo contest. Partnering with the learning leader of their choice, they’ll each create a special occasion–inspired look based on the Tapestry of Texture theme.
Their work will be showcased online and during the ICA Fall Atelier in New York City, October 3–5, 2026. Judges will select one winning student and their instructor for the grand prize: a trip to New York City, where they’ll attend the Fall Atelier and be recognized onstage before leading salon owners and artists.
Being named a finalist by Intercoiffure America Canada is a prestigious honor. Congratulations again to Wafa and Kendyl. They represent the passion and talent of Paul Mitchell Future Professionals everywhere.
